June is Pride Month! Since the first protests with the Stonewall riots in New York City in 1969, this movement against hate crimes and the freedom of sexual orientation and gender has grown. Companies are promoting inclusion and appreciation in the workplace for the LGBTQ+ community. Here are some ideas for celebrating Pride Month in your workplace! 2. Moving In The Right Direction... Right?
The unemployment rate fell to 5.8 percent from 6.1 percent in April. Although we still have a long way to go, numbers are making their way to look like they did pre-pandemic. This SHRM article gathers economists to discuss their feelings towards the hiring and job trends we are facing. "It's hard to hate this report, but it's also hard to love it," said Nick Bunker, an economist at the Indeed Hiring Lab. It seems this is the mentality of a lot of economists. 3. Get The Latest On The EEOC's Updated Guidance
Lexology summarized the EEOC's guidance that they released on May 28th. This is the first guidance that has been released since December 2020. The update covers issues related to mandatory vaccine policies, employer-provided vaccine incentives, confidentiality, and accommodating workers who may be unable or unwilling to obtain a vaccination for certain reasons. 4. Sea Isle City STOMPS Cancer Hosted By Bringing Hope Home
Our friends at Bringing Hope Home are hosting their 7th Annual Sea Isle City STOMPS Cancer Social Distance 5K & Family Walk and Virtual 5K & Family Walk starting on June 26th. The in-person event is on Saturday, June 26th and the virtual event will be open for a week from June 26th-July 4th. You can participate in the virtual event at any location that is convenient and safe for you! 5. Update On I-9 Forms
The interim policy to allow employers to view I-9 forms virtually has been expanded until August 31st. However, the normal timeline of when the document has to be completed is still in place. Companies can still virtually review even if some of their employees are coming into the office. Check out the whole SHRM article here!
