The Connector: Edition 24

The Connector Newsletter 2

Welcome to August!

July was a busy but fun month for us at The O'Connor Group! We worked hard, we played hard and then we went to see a ballgame! ⚾ Our team and family members enjoyed a night out at the Phillies game on Friday evening, July 23. Luckily, the Phillies beat the Braves, so we hope we brought them some good luck! Here are a few memories to share:

We added a new member to our team! Our Director of Sales & Marketing, Meghan Popoleo welcomed her daughter, Nina Sophia Popoleo on July 18, 2021! Congratulations to Meghan, her husband Joe, and big sister Ava! So wonderful to see such joy in the world!

1. Stop, Collaborate, and Listen!

At The O'Connor Group collaboration is in everything we do and is one of our four core values (collaboration, integrity, curiosity, and execution).

Collaboration brings people together to work on a shared goal. This article from IDEOU discusses creative collaboration and how you can implement it in your organization. We live by this value every day!

2. Scenario Planning Produces Better Benefits Strategies

Employee benefits are a key part of workplace planning. Many companies are following the example of intelligence agencies and using various "what -if" scenarios to consider alternate futures for their organizations and to create different plans to prepare for those potential outcomes.

As we continue to be in a hybrid workforce, scenario planning can be pivotal to your organization's future success. This article does a great job explaining how to do just that!

3. Let's Get Real About Hybrid

McKinsey and Company discusses how the 'return to the workplace' is a chance to create a new, more effective operating model that works for companies and people navigating a world of increasing uncertainty. We understand that many of you are asking us- is it the right time to bring our employees back to work?

This article was written before the newest Delta cases, but you should read the article and check out the working model, pre and post pandemic.

4. HR's Role in Advancing Equity in Times of Unrest

Now, more than ever it is critical to create safe spaces for candid conversations in the workplace. HR leaders must be ready to empathize with and respond to the reactions, frustrations and concerns of employees, managers, leaders, and communities.

This Gartner article discusses three ways to create safe spaces and shares DEI resources for your organization.
