The Ultimate COVID-19 #ConnectorsWhoCare Survival Kit - Fifth Edition

Survival Kit Image 5th Edition

Welcome back! The Fifth Edition of The Ultimate #ConnectorsWhoCare Survival Kit is especially geared to help our community. Some businesses were approved for the PPP while others weren't so lucky. Hopefully a new potential stimulus bill will get approved this week, but in the meantime, we need to help keep small business moving! Here we go!

Tip #1: Shop Local

Nothing like starting your day with a fresh muffin! Merrymead Farm is committed to staying open and will be a local market that is working hard to keep their store stocked and sanitized. They have curbside service available Monday-Friday 10AM-6PM. Their bakery items can’t be beat and don’t forget your flowers for Mother’s Day!

Photography needs? Yes, you can get your pictures done six feet away from the photographer. One business we love recommending is Anastasia Hanney Photography. Check out their fun Instagram: @lightscameralaundry

If you love natural foods and of course Kombucha, Baba’s Brew now has curbside pickup – just order online. It was started by a local female entrepreneur. Help us spread the word!

COFFEE! Okay...let’s be honest, we are drinking way more coffee! Well, you don’t need to settle…FEINE in Conshy (610) 941-3346 and Skippack (484) 991-8554 are still open from 8 AM – 3 PM for pick up only! If you haven’t had their Coco-Feine you are missing out!

PASTA! Homemade pasta in the area – YUM! Springfield Pasta IS in Springfield and their food is delicious! You can order amazing food online! It’s a great idea to ship some to your loved ones!

Tip #2: Philly Sick Leave & COVID-19

Attention Philly employers! Don't forget to check out how the Promoting Healthy Families and Workplaces Act applies in relation to COVID-19. Need help navigating? Contact us today!

Tip #3: The Unemployment Application for Self-Employed and 1099 candidates is LIVE...

Tip #4: Prepping to Open...

Many companies are already asking us about what they need to do to be compliant and prepared with the potential of opening their offices. We are having a webinar to discuss all the details on Wednesday, May 6th at 2:00 PM EST. During this time, we will hear from several experts around this topic. Invitations coming out this week!

Tip #5: The Search for Supplies

Our friends at PiperWai have an amazing smelling hand gel and it's finally back in stock! For every order, they are donating a Cleansing Hand Gel and percentage of profits to The Campaign Against Hunger, a community organization based in Brooklyn, NY, feeding those in need. Additionally, PiperWai is partnering with a local Bronx hospital to donate gels for healthcare workers serving their communities. They are AWESOME! Order here!

We have been asked to spread the word that Main Line Health is in desperate need of Sani-Wipes. If you are selling, would be willing to donate or know where we could find them, please let us know!

Tip #6: Virtual Taking Flight with DISC Training

During these tough and surreal times, it is so important to keep morale up and staff working effectively and efficiently, even if everyone is working remotely.

Merrick Rosenberg, author of Taking Flight!, The Chameleon, and soon to be released “Personality Wins: Who Will Take The White House and How We Know”, will be facilitating two virtual Taking Flight with DISC training program sessions.

Click on either link below to register for the date you would like to attend. The two-hour session is $95 per person and includes the training and a complimentary Taking Flight with DISC Profile. The Profile will be emailed to you prior to the session.

April 28, 2020 from 1-3pm EST (Only a few spots remaining)

April 30, 2020 from 1-3pm EST

Tip #7: Giving Back: Non-Profit Spotlight of the Week

Our friends at Mission Kids Child Advocacy Center’s door is staying open for kids, even during lockdown. COVID-19 is not the only risk children are facing during these times. Unfortunately, home is not always the safest place in a child’s life. During this time of social isolation, child abuse can go unnoticed and unreported, having a lasting impact on victims while leaving them feeling hopeless and alone. Learn more here.

Mission Kids is working hard with Montgomery County PA’s Office of Children &Youth (OCY) to protect vulnerable children during this crisis, and to supply needed items to families who are either unable to afford them or who may not have transportation. The demand is very high, and their supply of vitally important items is almost depleted. Here is a link to an Amazon shopping list, where there are specific items that are needed, and general suggestions. These items can be purchased and shipped directly to OCY.

These items can be mailed to:

Tip #8: What to Do When Scared Workers Don't Report to Work Due to COVID-19

Touchy subject, we know, but the first thing for an employer to do is just listen to the employee and hear their concern. Check out this article to learn more about what SHRM is recommending.

Tip #9: Sign up for the Creative Exchange 2020 Program: Mastering the Art of Innovation

Creativity and innovation are more important than ever to tackle today’s obstacles. Join the Arts + Business Council’s acclaimed Creative Exchange program and learn the design thinking skills, such as collaboration, valuing empathy, and rapid prototyping, you need to become a leader in your organization.

Gathering a cohort of 40 local leaders, the Creative Exchange 2020 program will feature a collaborative, virtual format and allow participants to both learn and network in a way that is rare at this unique moment. Creative Exchange will enable you to approach the future with courage and curiosity, while you build a new road map to success. This program begins on May 1st. Apply here!
