Think remote work is fading? It may just be evolving. While many Baby Boomer and Gen X leaders are pushing for a return to the office, new research suggests the shift toward flexibility isn’t going away.

A study from the National Bureau of Economic Research, which surveyed 8,000 U.S. workers in 2025, found that employees are far more likely to work remotely at younger companies and under younger CEOs.
