Five Ways to Recognize Employees at the End of the Year
Nov 10th, 2022
Happy November! As we begin our end of the year sprint to close out 2022 and welcome 2023 it’s important to add employee recognition to your end of the year checklist. The end of the year holidays often prompt individuals to reflect on their year. Companies like Spotify, Instagram, and retail stores are also prompting their customers to publish their “year in review,” What songs did they listen to the most? Which pictures received the most likes? Are they happy in their current role or is a new job part of their new year’s resolution? Now is a great time to spread some employee recognition cheer!
Five Ways to Recognize Employees at the End of the Year
- End of the Year Employee Awards
Are you hosting a holiday party this year? This could be a great opportunity to recognize employees while also having some fun! Create a few award categories and allow employees to vote and announce the winners at the party! Categories can be silly like most time spent at the copier or more serious like highest sales numbers.
- Personalized Swag
Purchasing clothing and swag can get pricey and coordinating sizing and ordering can be time consuming. Try coordinating a logo initiative. Allow employees to purchase their own clothing and pay to have the company logo embroidered. You may be able to connect with a local company for a more cost-effective price! Printing logo stickers and sticking them to notebooks, water bottles, and other fun office supplies can also support the company brand in a fun way!
- Gift Stipend
If your budget allows, you could provide everyone with a stipend to purchase a few desk or office space items. This shows your appreciation while also allowing the employee to purchase something they need/want rather than getting the same item for each person.
- DIY Incentive Coupons
When giving out gift cards is not an option, try giving out a DIY incentive coupon. You can give out as little or as many coupons as you’d like! Some examples could be - Lunch with the boss, voucher for a half day, coupon for a free lunch of their choice, coupon for an office supply upgrade, etc…
- Personalized Notes
It doesn’t always take something grand to make a difference. Don’t underestimate the power of a personalized thank you note. A handwritten note not only shows your appreciation, but shows that you took the time to reflect on your employee’s successes throughout the year and give thanks.
