7. Wellness Wednesday...
Health and wellness look different for everyone depending on personal goals, but one thing we all have in common that plays a big role is SLEEP.
Having a good nighttime routine can have a huge impact on how well you sleep throughout the night. Here are a few benefits of sticking to some type of nighttime routine:
- It improves the quality of sleep you get.
- It makes your mornings a smooth sailing experience and hence, more productive.
- Your brain functions more efficiently throughout the day.
Now, knowing how important it can be to have a regime at night, here are some steps you can take to implement this daily:
- Jot down what you wish to include in your nighttime routine and mark each off for a few nights in a row to help form a habit. (examples – wipe down your space, skincare routine, drink a hot tea, read a chapter in a book, take a walk with your family/dogs, etc. whatever you do, DO NOT SCROLL ON YOUR PHONE)
- Make use of digital alarms in the initial days of your nighttime routine to remind you to start your list around the same time each night.
- Make goals that are easily achievable at first and add on as you start to form habits.
Obviously, this is easier said than done especially with family running around. Try to incorporate the kids and your spouse into your routine to help keep you accountable and make things run as smoothly as possible. Sleep is so important and needs to be prioritized for overall health!
